This post is a little different than most. Steve and I are very excited because we have a HUGE announcement to make!
Drum roll please . . .
Steve’s new book An Island Perspective – Finding the Path to Tropical Tranquility is here! Yep, that means you can buy it now!
Never underestimate the power of your mind to deliver what you wish for. We’ve been dreaming of this moment, and the concepts of this book, for a long time. So we’re very happy to make it all a reality!
Steve and I started our island journey many years ago. It’s amazing to realize it all started as a little spark of an idea in Steve’s mind. He was thinking about what it would be like to live in a tropical paradise. Then his creative imagination took over and transported him to a magical place – the mythical island of Alumanaya.
In this new book, Steve describes the five principles of the island in more detail and suggests ways to apply them in day-to-day life. Over the past few years we’ve practiced incorporating these ideas into our own lives. We call it trying to live with An Island Perspective.
And the operative word is TRY! We often fall off the surfboard, so to speak, and have come to realize that actual application is a gradual process. Sometimes the waters are smooth as glass. Other times . . . well, I’m sure you’ve had your own share of life “storms” too.
But we’ve found that certain techniques are very helpful (and fun!) as we’ve learned to more effectively manage our thoughts. That’s why we love sharing our experiences and ideas with you! Maybe you can make a few discoveries of your own.
Here’s just a tiny taste of some of the lessons I’ve personally learned from applying An Island Perspective to my daily life:
Principle #1: Wind
Trying to control life is like trying to harness the wind – it doesn’t work. As the saying goes, it is what it is. Accepting what you can’t control and shifting your focus to what you CAN control will instantly make your life easier and a whole lot more tranquil.
Principle #2: Sand
Our nonstop thinking (many times negative) creates all kinds of feelings and emotions. These “stories” have a dramatic impact on our moods and our actions. By simply noticing your thoughts, you can learn to manage them in a more productive and positive way.
Principle #3: Palm
Whether we realize it or not, we each have within us a profound strength and resilience that can overcome any obstacle we face. Try to appreciate everything that happens in your life. Yes, even the so-called “bad” stuff. It makes you more flexible and grateful.
Principle #4: Ocean
We are ALL very creative – even though we may not realize it. Our creative imagination is as vast as the ocean. When we grasp and understand the depth and power of our authentic selves, we realize how limitless we really are.
Principle #5: Light
We can tap into the most powerful energy force in the universe at any time. The light is always there for us, all around us and inside of us – no matter where we are or what we’re doing. We all have our own unique glow that radiates to others.
Of course, there’s a lot more about each principle in the book. And I’m sure you’ll use your own creative imagination to apply the ideas in the most beneficial way for you.
I believe that finding tranquility, or inner peace, is all we really want. Sure, it feels good to achieve great goals, to acquire more and better stuff. But in the end, none of those things are deeply fulfilling or genuinely meaningful.
Maybe you’ve reached a point in your life where you realize you’re looking for something more. Maybe you need a fresh perspective, a new way of looking at things. I suggest trying a touch of tropical tranquility.
Am I saying that Steve’s book is going to change your life? Not necessarily. But I can tell you that living with An Island Perspective has certainly changed mine!
