Practicing Ahani Zen

On the mythical island of Alumanaya, the people have names for different types of winds. A calm, gentle breeze is sometimes called an “Ahani.”

Part of the island principle of Wind deals with how we often try to control life. But as the islanders point out, trying to control everything that goes on around us doesn’t work. It’s like trying to control the wind.

Life is always changing.

Let go of trying to control events and circumstances.

These are things I need to remember and practice on an ongoing basis. When I manage to do that, life flows more smoothly – kind of like a gentle island breeze. I think of it as connecting with my Ahani Zen.

  1. We’re constantly adjusting the sails, to match the ever changing winds…

Great thought Heidi. And along with constantly adjusting the sales, we find it’s much easier when we’re not trying to sail against the wind. We may think we know where we want to go, but sometimes life has a different idea!
